  • Overview

    Our client, a high-quality, medical transport provider, is actively seeking EMT-B candidates to join their group in Lakewood, NJ and provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for non-critical, critical and emergent patients from facilities. 

    Responsibilities

     

    •  Performs rig check at the start and end of every shift 
    •  Replaces supplies/equipment at the end of shift per standards set forth by the Company/Department of Health 
    •  Utilizes BLS Inspection Sheet for recording the replenishment of fluids and/or stock and places the sheet in the designated receptacle at the end of each shift 
    •  Keeps assigned vehicle clean 
    •  Reports any damage to the assigned vehicle to Dispatch and submits a written report in ePro 
    •  Communicates any mechanical defects to Dispatch and submits a written report in ePro in order to take the vehicle out of service 
    •  Carries driver’s license and all certifications at all times 
    •  Brings own stethoscope and watch with a second hand to perform necessary vitals 
    •  Enforces the No Smoking Policy within the vehicles at all times 
    •  Provides safe, medical transportation for all patients as well as prompt, effective emergency medical treatment 
    •  Attends to and monitors patients continually during transport and treats patients with kindness and respect at all times 
    •  Safely moves patients into and out of the vehicle and ensuring the proper placement of the seatbelt and also proper securement of the stretcher in the vehicle 
    •  Moves patients over varying terrain and uses proper lifting and moving techniques at all times. 
    •  Requests assistance If there is any doubt regarding the EMTs ability to move patient 
    •  Ensures patient’s privacy through HIPAA Compliance and comfort through modesty and proper attire/covering based on weather or seasonal requirements 
    •  Ensure that all vehicle occupants wear automotive seatbelts 
    •  Operates vehicle in a safe, lawful manner with low and smooth starts and stops
    •  Handles patient paperwork from origin to destination, as well as that which is returned to Headquarters with accurate data and signatures
    •  Takes vitals a minimum of three (3) times 
    •  Notifies the Dispatcher of any special needs. i.e. bariatric stretcher, assistive staff (police, medics, lift, etc.) 
    •  Notifies the receiving healthcare facility prior to arrival that special professional services and/or assistance will be needed for seriously ill or injured patients 
    •  Reports verbally to the appropriate personnel when the patient is delivered to the receiving health care facility or other place of medical care 
    •  Complies with all applicable laws, rules and/or regulations pertaining to universal precautions, body substance isolation procedures and handling of the deceased 
    •  Provides continual Basic Life Support Care as appropriate, including but not limited to oxygen administration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, extrication, airway management, control of bleeding, assist with delivery of approved medications, spinal and c-spine immobilization, and use of automatic external defibrillator 
    •  Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks, safety glasses, gowns, gloves and other protective gear as required 
    •  Completes electronic Patient Care Reports 

     

    Minimum requirements 

    •  Active/current EMT-Basic Certification from the NJ Department of Health & Senior Services, State of New York, Delaware, or Pennsylvania. 
    •  Current Healthcare Provider CPR issued by the American Heart Association or ASHI 
    •  Current/Valid Driver’s License 
    •  Clean Driving/Criminal Record 

     

    Abilities required 

    •  Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 500 lbs. or more with the assistance of one EMT co- worker 
    •  Ability to climb stairs and/or carry patients up or down stairs 
    •  Ability to stand, bend, and sit for extended periods of time 
    •  Ability to operate for extended times in extreme weather conditions and working in confined spaces with limited vision
