  • Overview

    Provides human resources generalist support for a specific operating unit or facility. Administers HR plant requirements, including staffing, employee relations, safety, workers’ compensation, wage and hour matters, benefits, training and record retention. Coordinates priorities and workflow with division or facility manager. Ensures compliance with all legal and corporate guidelines. Supports corporate and plant HR needs, as necessary.



    Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    1. Recruit, transfer and promote qualified candidates for open positions, in a timely manner, working with hiring managers to ensure adequate staffing levels.
    2. Prepare new hire paperwork and conduct new hire orientations. Review all documents for completeness and accuracy.
    3. Communicate benefits to newly eligible employees and process enrollment paperwork. Assist employees on problem claims, as required.
    4. Process employment paperwork, keeping Payroll and Benefits apprised of active and inactive employees. Prepare Payroll Change Notices and other routine forms as required.
    5. Create and accurately maintain physical and electronic personnel files.
    6. Create and maintain I-9, EEO, training, medical/legal, attendance, and worker’s compensation records for the facility or division. Update and audit regularly.
    7. Compile salary, turnover, safety and employment statistics as needed.
    8. Coach, counsel and provide guidance to employees and supervisors on matters, which involve employment. Answer routine inquiries. Investigate matters where answers are unavailable or not readily accessible.
    9. Investigate and document complaints involving policy violations.
    10. Create and maintain position descriptions for the facility.
    11. Provide support to supervisors/managers on compliance, disciplinary and/or termination matters. Train or ensure training as necessary.
    12. Contest unemployment claims and represent the company on other employment-related matters.
    13. Process all workmen’s compensation-related paperwork and follow-up with injured to ensure an expeditious return to work. Thoroughly investigate claims and maintain communication with carrier on questionable claims.
    14. Participate on the safety committee and support safety communications.
    15. Process documents, which often involve transcribing, composing and typing correspondence of a non-routine, semi-complex nature, i.e.: employment offer letters, disciplinary notices and related documentation, termination letters, charts, graphs, etc. Proof read final copy and ensure accuracy. Will often compose correspondence under own signature.
    16. Ensure all paperwork is processed promptly and accurately. May create and maintain routine reports or prepare documents for special projects, which could involve research of information or calculation of figures.
    17. May coordinate and/or participate in the coordination of company-sponsored activities.
    18. Recommend improvement in benefits, policies or procedures.
    19. Perform special projects or other duties as required.



    Skills and Experience-


    1. BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. 4+ years of HR generalist experience, ideally in manufacturing. Professional certification in HR is preferred.
    3. Superior knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and regulations.
    4. Fluent written and verbal BI-lingual skills in English and Spanish.
    5. Excellent interpersonal skill and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with tact and diplomacy. Able to work with minimal supervision either independently or on a team, while managing multiple projects and changing priorities. Able to coach, counsel, train and/or recruit, through the managerial level. Able to make independent, competent, and legal decisions.
    6. Highly organized detail-oriented self-starter capable of prioritizing workflow and ensuring follow-up.
    7. Professional presence. Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
    8. PC proficient using spreadsheet and word processing software. HRIS experience preferred. Able to use basic office equipment.
    9. Creative problem-solver who adapts to change in a positive manner, offering ideas and insight.
    10. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
