    Purafil, a Filtration Group, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Technician will perform preventative and repair maintenance to the process equipment, the facility and the grounds of Purafil. The position operates with little direct supervision and relies on the individual to assess the situation and to take the proper action to improve the facility’s safety, organization, and appearance.  The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    • Mix dry (powdered) chemicals in blender for shift’s production.
    • Assist disc operator with pumping of liquid bulk totes of chemicals.
    • Change screens
    • Conduct daily checks on boiler, air compressors, and dust collectors.
    • Conduct preventive maintenance on process and facility equipment.
    • Support plant ISO program, lean manufacturing, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Keep work area and department clean and organized.
    • Monitor operating supply and repair part levels.  Submit requisitions in a timely manner to prevent out-of-stock situations.
    • Perform all other tasks as directed by Purafil manufacturing leadership 

    Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 4-5 years electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • 3-5 years mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.

    Core Competencies

    • Ability to operate a lift truck and a scissor lift
    • Ability to weld
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs is preferred
    • Ability to follow a daily and weekly routine without direct supervision

    Physical Demands of Position

    This position is primarily based in a manufacturing environment.  Shifts last 8-12 hours per day, 4-6 days per week.  Most of this time is spent walking and standing on concrete manufacturing floor in extreme heat and cold; climbing stairs and ladders; wearing personal protective equipment including safety glasses, earplugs, safety shoes, and dust mask.  Some time may be spent on the roof of the building or outside on plant property.  Requires weekend and holiday work as maintenance task and production needs dictate.  Be able to lift fifty pounds. The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, safety shoes, and hand protection.

     

    Work Environment 

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is extended periods of time working in hot and cold temperature in the warehouse and on the factory floor.  The employee may also be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate but may occasionally be considered high.
