  • Overview

    The Woven Belt Technician performs the operation of producing a woven belt as specified by work orders and customer requirements. The successful candidate is accountable for the correct length and width of the woven belt, which includes properly and efficiently cutting the material and finishing the edges, continuously monitoring/inspecting the job for zero defects quality in accordance with control plans and maintaining the cleanliness of the work area.

    Responsibilities

    • Inspects the tools and machines to ensure they are safe to operate and fully functional prior to starting a job
    • Reviews and verifies work order, route card and control plan to ensure adherence to quality standards
    • Verifies material is correct to use and quality checks and measurements are correct
    • Marks material with correct dimensions as indicated on work order; have marks double checked and then cut belt
    • Trim edges of belt for loose threads of material; clipper belt with correct clipper if required
    • Glue edges of belt with correct glue; apply any stamping/stenciling if required; belt is pin fitted to make sure is square
    • Visually inspects belt for quality defects and makes adjustments to ensure no defects
    • When order is complete, signs off control plan; has belt moved to packing area
    • Belt is packed in correct size tube with correct wires and labeled accordingly
    • Cleans, oils and lubricates machine, and inspects machine to determine whether repairs are needed; notifies supervisor of mechanical malfunctions
    • Read tape measure and other measuring devices accurately and complete required paperwork
    • Operate forklift (or be willing to learn) to move packed tubes to shipping
    • All other duties as assigned

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or GED and/or one year of related experience or an equivalent combination thereof required
    • Able to perform basic math functions and read/interpret drawings and/or blueprints as well as work instructions
    • Must have basic computer skills.
    • Must be a strong team player with the ability to work within high performance teams
    • Customer-oriented and able to adapt to changing demands and priorities
    • Must have a good work ethic, be at work every day and on time and show respect for others
    • Must exhibit safe behaviors and follow all safety procedures
    • Embrace and practice 5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Candidate must be willing and able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

    • Walking, standing and moving around and above machine in order to perform cutting operations
    • Frequent pushing, pulling, reaching (above, at and below shoulder height), twisting, bending, and/or stooping
    • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
    • Pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping/gripping with arms, hands and/or fingers
    • Excellent eye/hand coordination and color vision
    • Safety glasses and steel-toes shoes compliant with ANSI/OSHA standards required for this position
