Overview

The Manufacturing/Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the development and refinement of manufacturing processes while also contributing to the design and modification of our products. They will work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and will also collaborate with the design team to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to understand product requirements and offer insights from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Assist in the design of products ensuring they are both innovative and manufacturable.
  • Utilize CAD software to draft, revise, and finalize product designs and drawing packages.
  • Provide an integral role in the document control process.
  • Help to establish and refine manufacturing processes to optimize product quality and efficiency.
  • Analyze and recommend manufacturing equipment and tools that will improve the production process.
  • Work closely with the supply chain team and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient production flow.
  • Provide input on prototype building and testing.
  • Assist in fixture design to improve manufacturability and quality.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting modifications to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest manufacturing and design techniques, tools, and materials

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar.
  • Experience with CAM software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section 8 is preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and principles (Machining, Metal Forming, Welding, and Assembly.)
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years experience or internship/co-op experience in manufacturing or design engineering.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery
